When it comes to beauty products, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m pretty much clueless. I basically do what the experts tell me to do and fill in the rest with recommendations from friends/beauty bloggers. Through one of those processes or just sheer luck, I’ve stumbled upon some products that help me to look like I actually know what I’m doing when it comes to makeup/haircare/skincare that I basically can no longer live without:
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I’m usually a drugstore kind of girl when it comes to makeup, but I consider my eyelashes to be my best physical feature and I take the task of highlighting them very seriously. I’ve tried many a mascara in my day and this is the absolute best for both fullness and length. I’ve been told that the L’Oreal Lash Paradise is comparable — I’m not convinced but the price difference is significant so worth a shot.
Navy Haircare Search & Rescue Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner. I have very flat hair and this has worked wonders for me. It was recommended to me by my cousins who both have amazing beautiful princess hair, so obviously I bought in. It’s so. freaking. good. Somehow it makes your hair full but without it being sticky or brittle, and I’ve noticed less breakage in general.
R&Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo & Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo. Dry shampoo is another area where I’ve tried just about every option out there, and the drugstore options just don’t compare. I couldn’t possibly choose between these two but they both have the qualities that I consider to be of the utmost important in a dry shampoo: effective, lightweight, no residue, and smell amazing but without the scent being overpowering.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen. You would think I own stock in Supergoop for how many people I have turned on to this sunscreen. I discovered last year that aging is very real, and I needed a sunscreen that I could wear every day. This one is so smooth that it feels like a makeup primer and it doesn’t make me breakout. Also it was recently endorsed by TIBAL (if you know you know), so you can bet your bottom dollar it’s legit.
Orlette Hyalauronic Acid Serum. I apparently have very dry skin and for years I just kept using more and more moisturizer until my aesthetician educated me on the difference between moisturizing and hydrating. I still don’t really understand the distinction but I do know that adding a hydrating serum into my skincare routine has made a huge difference. I have far fewer breakouts and my skin tone is more even. Plus, this one is $14.
